A fallen elm tree limb at Topa Topa Elementary School left one student and one teacher in critical condition Sept. 25, said Ventura County Fire Department (VCFD) Captain Stan Ziegler.
The critically injured child remained hospitalized as of Sept. 28, said Ojai Unified School District (OUSD) Superintendent Andy Cantwell. The child's injuries are not expected to be life-threatening, he added.
The injured teacher and three children between the ages of seven and nine have since been discharged from the hospital. Cantwell declined to release the names of the individuals involved in the accident.
