Supes not high on recreational cannabis

The Ventura County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Sept. 26 to ban the retail sale, distribution, commercial cultivation and manufacturing of recreational cannabis. 
Multiple supervisors argued the move was borne of a state-mandated deadline.
“If we don’t do the ban right now we lose all local control over this. So I’m not ready to lose all local control at this point in time,” said Supervisor Steve Bennett. “I’ll support this ban, not because I think it’s the ideal, but because it is better to do this than lose the ability to regulate the market altogether.”
“We are up against a deadline,” added Supervisor Linda Parks. “In January the state could start permitting commercial adult recreational use of marijuana: cultivation, dispensaries, manufacturing, etc.”
