Ventura County Superior Court Judge Vincent O'Neill ordered Golden State Water Company (GSWC) Oct. 24 to pay Ojai Playhouse owners Khaled and Walid Al-Alwar $895,372.40 for the services of their attorneys, John Howard and Brett Templeman.
The award adds to the $2.7 million in damages for which O'Neill found GSWC liable following the July 20, 2014 water main break that left the Playhouse shuttered.
O'Neill also found GSWC liable for post-judgment interest. GSWC will be liable for an additional 10 percent per year in interest on the $2,638,431.49 in damages owed to the Al-Awars.
O'Neill's action brings GSWC's bill for damages to the Ojai Playhouse and the ensuing trial to $3,533,803.89 so far.
O'Neill has yet to rule on the issue of pre-judgement interest — interest on the damages portion of the judgement for the incident that occurred three years and three months ago.
