After playing what was arguably the toughest four-game stretch of any team on the Central Coast, the Nordhoff High School (NHS) football Rangers were thankful to see rival Santa Paula on the schedule for their Nov. 3 regular season finale.
The game against the Cardinals also served as Nordhoff’s homecoming game and a healthy crowd showed to see the Rangers wrap up their 2017 regular season.
After the game, NHS head coach Lance Wiggins and his players turned their attention to the postseason. “We are really looking forward to it. Making the playoffs was a goal we established going into this season. I am hoping we can creep into the 14 or 15 seed range with this win,” he said.
Despite their optimism, when the CIF released the at-large berths for the 2017 playoffs, the Nordhoff program learned they were not invited to the party.
