The Ojai City Council voted unanimously Nov. 14 to waive a 24-hour waiting period requirement for medical cannabis dispensary appointments.
Dispensary owners and patients said the waiting period was problematic.
“I don't have that kind of time most of the time,” said Isolde Restrepo, a medical cannabis patient who moved to Ojai to recover from cancer. “We deserve to have the right to have the medicine immediately when we need it, just like when you wake up and you have a toothache or a backache or a migraine.”
Sespe Creek Collective employee Cloud Hamilton said she's had to turn away numerous patients from the Bryant Circle dispensary because the patients failed to make an appointment 24 hours in advance.
