Ojai Playhouse owner Khaled Al-Awar, and his attorneys, John Howard and Brett Templeman, were cheered by members of the Ojai City Council and the public Nov. 28 as they announced their $3.85 million settlement agreement with Golden State Water Company (GSWC).
“We have succeeded in our lawsuit against Golden State (Water Company),” said Howard. “The settlement is official. We still have a little paperwork that needs to be done to make sure that the language is correct so that things that shouldn't be taxed aren't taxed and things of that sort.”
Finalizing the tax language in the settlement agreement has taken longer than expected, he said.
“Usually it's a pretty perfunctory exercise,” Howard said. “It usually takes a day or two.”
