Trevor Quirk and Justin Homze spotted a firefighter sleeping in an Upper Ojai driveway in the early hours of Dec. 7.
“I saw one of these fire guys just passed out, face down on the driveway, the concrete, with a sleeping bag,” said Homze, whose parents live across the street from Quirk on Sulphur Mountain Road.
“Let's surprise these guys with breakfast in the morning,” Quirk said.
The duo made coffee and toast in Quirk's home, which was without power at the time.
By the time they returned to the sleeping firefighter's makeshift camp, he was gone.
“And then we said, 'let's have a breakfast for all the neighbors and put it on Facebook,'” Quirk recalled.
