City searching for grants to pay for brush, dead tree removal

With the Thomas Fire still top-of-mind, city of Ojai officials are exploring ways to obtain state and federal grants that could help pay for brush and dead tree reduction within the city.
Ojai City Manager Steve McClary recently met with East End resident Michael Weaver, an experienced grant writer who spoke to the Ojai City Council Dec. 12 about his ability and willingness to work with the city on going after emergency grants.
The city should be “working on prevention and not reacting to disaster,” Weaver stated.
To that end, McClary and Weaver met about a week ago, “and we are watching to determine what grants the city may be eligible for,” McClary told the Ojai Valley News.
