A man wanted on murder and attempted murder charges in Colorado was arrested in the Ojai Valley Jan. 16.
According to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office (VCSO), a deputy was on patrol in Meiners Oaks at 11:35 a.m. when she spotted a vehicle with expired registration tags.
The deputy stopped the vehicle with two male occupants.
Both men were arrested for drug-related offenses.
The driver had no ID, but allegedly said his name was Kyle Smith.
While he was being booked into jail, fingerprints and a booking photo were taken.
A check of the fingerprints revealed the man to be 25-year-old Greg Boren of Greeley, Colo.
Boren was wanted by the U.S. Marshal's Office for one count of murder and one count of attempted murder.
In 2013, his case had been featured on “America's Most Wanted Fans,” an unofficial fan page for America's Most Wanted and The Hunt with John Walsh.
Ojai Police Chief James Fryhoff told the Ojai Valley News that local charges against Boren were dropped so that he could be extradited to Colorado to face the murder and attempted murder charges there.
How long Boren had been in the Ojai Valley area was unknown, Fryhoff added.
