The Oaks at Ojai expects to remain closed for clean-up work until mid-March

The Oaks at Ojai will likely remain closed until mid-March, according to Assistant Director of Operations Kyle Griffith.
The property suffered extensive smoke and ash damage during the Thomas Fire, he explained.
As Oaks guests and employees rushed to evacuate Dec. 5, numerous doors and windows were left open on the property.
“It was absolutely an error. It was an unfortunate circumstance,” said Griffith, who said staff was prioritizing their guest's safety and, in his case, shepherding them out of town.
“When I returned to the property (Dec. 8) there was a fog of smoke so thick I couldn’t see from one end of the spa to the other. That smell of smoke still remains in the lobby, dining room and fitness areas,” he added.
