Weather experts say Ojai Valley residents can expect some hazy days and perhaps a little more ash on the ground over the next couple of weeks.
Thank the Thomas Fire and the wind.
“We just have some residual ash working its way down,” said Laura Hodgens, air quality meteorologist with the Ventura County Air Pollution Control District (VCAPCD).
Post-fire clean-up activities coupled with gusty Santa Ana winds Jan. 26 through Jan. 28 probably added to the hazy conditions and ash-covered sidewalks, stated Hodgens.
“The ash gets stirred up a little bit. Plus the wind adds to that, although winds weren't terribly strong in the Ojai Valley over the weekend,” she said.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), gusts of 10 to 20 mph were recorded in Ojai Jan. 28.
“Nothing too crazy,” said Hodgens.
