Warm, dry winter causing concern among growers

The unseasonably warm temperatures are causing some plants to bloom early and is causing concern for many area growers.

Warm weather in winter portends change according to Ben Faber of the University of California Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources. For Ojai, the unseasonably warm winter we’ve been having could mean local oranges won't be the bright color locals are accustomed to.
“When you produce any citrus in a warm climate it never gets any color,” explained Faber, referencing Florida oranges, which are often more yellow than orange. 
And he doesn't have much hope for a cold snap.
“Winter's over. It's gone,” Faber said.
