Books are becoming dog-eared at local libraries

With his overly large ears and laid-back demeanor, George is custom made to stretch out on a rug and listen to people tell stories.
Local children who are learning to read are finding it enjoyable and encouraging to sit on the floor and read stories to him.
It's a win-win.
George is a dog — a four-year-old basset hound with long, floppy ears and polka dots on this feet and belly — and he's the star of the new Paws for Reading program at the Ojai and Meiners Oaks libraries.
