A vegetarian restaurant that closed in late July so it could move to a new location in downtown Ojai should be up and running by summer.
Ben and Marissa DiChiachio, owners of Hip Vegan Cafe, are hoping for a May reopening, at 316 E. Matilija St.
“The building is in full construction mode,” said Ben, “there's still quite a bit to do.”
Framing is in place for the kitchen and dining areas of the restaurant, that will offer counter service and outdoor dining.
A smoothie and drink station are among new additions that include “some ready-to-go stuff,” according to Ben, “and we might be doing breakfast and dinner.”
He said plans are in the works to expand the menu.
