Council takes no action on possible legal threat over Bentley lease appeal

The Ojai City Council met in closed session Feb. 27 to discuss possible litigation stemming from its appeal of a decision by county planners.
The Council “took no reportable actions,” according to Ojai City Manager Steve McClary.
The appeal concerns the Bentley oil-and-gas lease near Persimmon Hill, which includes nine wells and associated equipment.
At its July 25 meeting, based on concerns with several issues, the Ojai City Council voted to appeal the Ventura County Planning Division ruling that would allow the facility to modify its operations.
The issues include an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) on the project, a proposed tanker truck route and the use of a burn-off flare.
