“I understand their passion for going out there, but we need people's patience.”
By “there,” Ojai Valley Land Conservancy (OVLC) Stewardship Director Brendan Taylor was referring to Fuelbreak Road Trail (FBRT).
The one-mile trail, in OVLC's Valley View Preserve, passes through three private properties as it runs west from Gridley Trail to Fuelbreak Road.
The only access to the trail is via Gridley and Fuelbreak, both U.S. Forest Service (USFS) trails and both temporarily closed because they're in the Thomas Fire burn scar.
For the moment, there is no legal access to FBRT, but a few people have paid no heed and have caused some issues, according to Taylor.
“One is that people are illegally taking Fuelbreak Road or Gridley Trail, and then coming onto the trail,” Taylor said. “Until the USFS opens this up, you can't be on that trail.”
