Cindy Sloan, director of transportation for the Ojai Unified School District (OUSD) negotiated a deal that will allow the District to replace three aging school buses with three new 2019 buses. The agreement that will be cost-neutral after six years, OUSD Superintendent Andy Cantwell said.
Cantwell confirmed the negotiation went beyond Sloan's formal job description.
“She went above and beyond,” he said. “She wanted to be able to provide the service to students and continue to support her colleagues.”
The new buses will replace OUSD's current fleet that dates back to the early 1990s.
Sloan applied for a 35 percent discount on three new Thomas Built buses from Bus West, a national school bus dealer.
