Advertisements will likely change the look of Ojai’s five trolleys.
The proposed advertising program, coupled with increases in trolley fares and a reduction in service hours, is intended to address the program’s annual $85,000 shortfall, said Ojai Public Works Director Greg Grant. 
“The whole point of this program is to keep the trolley alive,” Grant said. “We’re going through these steps to maintain the viability of the trolley.”
The budget shortfall is not the result of decreased ridership, said Austin Novstrup, Ojai’s transit operation supervisor, but the result of a change in designation from the Ventura County Transportation Commission (VCTC).
