Performance group offers youth workshop next weekend

Kids who want to sing and dance can attend a three-day, performing-arts workshop making a stop in Ojai next weekend.
Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Ojai, The Young Americans will bring its Signature Workshop and Performance to the Nordhoff High School gym April 13 through April 15.
Forty-five college-age performers comprise the group's international cast.
“They go to schools around the world teaching music, dance, theater and art, and promoting kindness, cooperation and courage,” said Bryant Huber, youth services director for the Ojai Rotary Club.
Huber, 33, joined The Young Americans cast as a youth growing up in Northern Michigan “and traveled throughout Europe, Japan and the U.S. on several tours.”
He met his wife, Carin, an Ojai native, while the two were performing and traveling with the group, and the couple ended up settling down in the Ojai Valley.
“I guess I'm now a middle-aged American,” Huber said.
