The Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the man whose body was found in a wilderness area north of Ojai April 1 as 60-year-old Ray Schultz, a transient.
A hiker found the body near the Piedra Blanca and Sespe River Trails and reported it to authorities at approximately 4 p.m., according to Capt. Brian Slominski of the Ventura County Sheriff's Office (VCSO).
There was no sign of trauma and no evidence of foul play, officials said.
The cause of death is still under investigation pending toxicology analysis, said Brian Applegate, an investigator with the Medical Examiner's Office.
It appeared that Schultz had been dead for three to five days when his body was found, Applegate added.
