Cell tower changes, Starbucks plan on agenda of Monday’s MAC meeting

Perry Van Houten, Ojai Valley News reporter
The Ojai Valley Municipal Advisory Council (MAC) will meet April 23 to discuss changes to a cell-tower project near Oak View.
The project involves the construction of a 34-foot "mono pine" cellular antenna for Verizon Wireless.
The facility is planned on a 539-square-foot lease on a hilltop above 655 Burnham Road, where a 25-foot-tall white cross containing wireless communications equipment has stood since 2001.
According to Verizon, the cross tower no longer provides adequate coverage.
During Monday's meeting, the MAC is set to review a conditional use permit modification application for the project.
According to Senior Planner Kristina Boero, the design and height of the tower have not changed, but a mitigation measure aimed at reducing the project's scenic impacts has been modified.
