Ojai resident Christina Tracy surrendered to Ventura County Sheriff’s Office (VCSO) officials before dawn April 19 on a felony embezzlement charge.
Tracy, 28, is accused of fraudulently using $19,102.89 of the Montessori School of Ojai’s funds, her former employer, for personal purchases that began in January 2017.
VCSO detective Andrea Regan said one of Tracy’s former colleagues noticed unusual charges on a Montessori School credit card in October 2017.
When the employee confronted Tracy about the charges, Tracy admitted to using the school’s credit card for personal expenses and pledged to repay the funds, Regan said.
After Montessori School staff discovered the magnitude of the alleged charges, they contacted VCSO to file a police report, Regan said.
Regan made contact with Tracy and her attorney, Ryan Blatz, in November 2017.
“They were extremely cooperative from the get go,” she said. “They never disputed her actions.”
