Construction on the new $17-million, state-of-the-art skilled nursing facility at Ojai Valley Community Hospital (OVCH) is on track to be completed this year.
The 42,000-square-foot Continuing Care Center, situated behind the main hospital at 1306 Maricopa Highway, will replace an aging 18,000-square-foot building that will be torn down and the land made into a parking lot.
“We hope the construction will be complete by the end of the year, and first quarter next year we'll be in and occupying it,” said Haady Lashkari, OVCH chief administrative officer.
Most of the framing work is finished, the windows and some of the doors are in place, and the installation of drywall and roof tiles has begun.
“This is just a dream come true,” said Robert Roddick, chief engineer for the project. “It's a great joy to see something come from plans to actual buildings.”
