The Ojai City Council voted 3-2 May 8 to table the issue of pay raises for council members.
The Council directed city staff April 10 to draft an ordinance that would raise monthly Council stipends from $475 to $760, an annual increase of $3,420 per member. The increase would be the first Council pay raise since 2006.
Ojai resident Bill Miley said he supported the raise in theory but the, “percent and frequency (of the stipend increase) should be scaled to the percent and frequency of any increases for city employees.”
Miley said he made a public-information request to the city for staff pay raise information from 2006 to 2018, but has not yet received the data.
