There they go again: Forecasters say El Niño likely

Although it's too early to say what it means for the Ojai Valley's rainy season, forecasters have issued an El Niño watch for later this year.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) issued the El Niño watch June 14.
It means that conditions are favorable for an El Niño to develop in the tropical Pacific Ocean within the next six months.
“In order to declare an El Niño you need five consecutive months of above average-ocean temperatures,” said meteorologist Mark Jackson of the National Weather Service (NWS) in Oxnard.
Over the past few months, scientists have been tracking a build up of heat beneath the ocean's surface, indicating that an El Niño may be on the way.
Jackson said projections indicate the warming will continue.
