Despite fire losses, area homes still jump in value

Ojai property values have surged higher than a year ago, with assessments seeing a rise of 4.69 percent.
According to the new assessment roll from the Ventura County Assessor's Office, property values in the city rose from $1.52 billion last year to $1.59 billion in 2018-2019.
Assessed values of Ojai Valley properties outside the city limits rose from $2.53 billion in 2017-2018 to $2.62 billion this year, an increase of 3.5 percent.
County Assessor Dan Goodwin announced the annual roll July 2.
