City, county urging Casitas to declare drought emergency

Despite being on summer recess, the Ojai City Council held a special meeting Aug. 7 and voted 4-1 to write a letter to the Casitas Municipal Water District (CMWD) Board of Directors, requesting it promptly declare a drought emergency.
Councilman Paul Blatz was the one dissenting vote. 
At its current rate of reduction, Lake Casitas will drop below 30 percent of its capacity before the beginning of the rainy season, the level at which stage-four drought regulations could kick in.
