Sisar Creek restoration project a bridge to future steelhead populations

A bridge replacement project in Upper Ojai, aimed at improving passage for endangered Southern California steelhead, is moving into the design phase.
The project, that would remove a low-flow crossing on Sisar Creek, is being spearheaded by the nonprofit Friends of the Santa Clara River (FSCR), a member of the Santa Clara River Steelhead Coalition, founded in 2012 to prioritize steelhead recovery in the watershed.
“We developed a strategic plan and implementation plan to prioritize what projects we were going to move forward in a three- to five-year time frame,” said FSCR Board Member Candice Meneghin.
“Sisar Creek came to the top,” she said.
