Southern California Edison (SCE) has installed two weather stations in the Ojai area — one along Thacher Road and the other on Sulphur Mountain Road. The stations have sensors that provide real-time weather data, including wind speed and wind gust behavior, temperature, humidity and solar radiation. The data, recorded every 10 minutes, is then fed into weather modeling software that can forecast high-fire-risk conditions down to a third of a mile, information that will be available to first responders and fire agencies.
