Two Small Earthquakes Jolt Valley

Local residents heard booms and felt shudders as a small earthquake occurred just north of Ojai early Monday morning. Two quakes — a magnitude 2.8 at 2:07 a.m. and a magnitude 2.6 at 2:25 a.m. — occurred about four miles north of town and about .7 miles under the surface, according to specialists with the U.S. Geological Survey.
