McNeil earns age-group title in duathlon

02062014 worlds podium duathlonGreg McNeil (center) recently won the World Sprint Duathlon Championships in Ottawa, Canada. McNeil took first in his age division, 45 to 50, and was 13th overall in the international event. Last year he won the Nationals event in Arizona and placed first overall. The Sprint Duathlon consists of a 5K run, 20K bike ride and then another 2.5K run McNeil finished the course in an impressive time of 1:00:01. In his early cycling career, McNeil was the top 17-year-old on the nation and raced against the likes of Lance Armstrong. McNeil was born and raised in Ojai and is a 1986 graduate of Nordhoff High School. (photo submitted)
