Locals may soon get to vote for mayor

Come November, Ojai could see a shift in the way its mayor is elected. As it currently stands, Ojai has a rotating mayor — nominated from and by the sitting City Council members — who serves for one year. But on Tuesday, Ojai’s City Council asked city staff to draft a resolution that would put an initiative on the November ballot to offer residents the option of transitioning to a "strong mayor" system.
