Andrea Brook, a local artist who performs under the name Sonic Butterfly, lost her Malibu home and studio to a 2007 fire.
Feb. 2, she became part of the effort to help local artists recover from the recent Thomas Fire.
Now an Ojai resident, Brook installed and performed on a 60-foot acoustic harp — strung from the Porch Gallery's roof to its front lawn — during the opening reception for the Gallery's Feb. 3 Thomas Fire Artists' Recovery exhibition.
“She wanted to do something uplifting and healing,” said Lisa Casoni, co-owner of the Porch Gallery.
The Feb. 3 opening included the work of more than 40 local artists.
