There are hundreds of abandoned oil wells in Ventura County on a draft list to be plugged using tax payer funds. 

Hundreds of Ventura County oil wells — including several in the Ojai Valley — are on a state list of “Likely Orphan and Deserted Well Inventory” (https://bit.ly/3e7ef6l), proposed to be plugged and abandoned at taxpayer expense.

The public comment period has been extended to Friday, Oct. 14. Public comments can be sent to CalGEMOrphanWells@conservation.ca.gov.
